How can I claim my free early education and childcare place?

All children aged 3 are entitled to the Government Triple-E funding which can be claimed in the term following the child’s third birthday. This means that over 51 weeks, s/he will receive 11 hours free (equivalent to one day or two sessions) per week.

Voluntary Contributions explained: (only applicable when you receive the funding)

What does the government funding provide?

Funding is given to ensure that all children are able to access the
standard EYFS curriculum. This includes things like small world figures, role play, dolls, cars and trucks, trains and track, puzzles, books, loose parts, construction bricks, craft supplies, paper and card, glue, paint, pencils and crayons, scissors, aprons, sand and water and enough staff to meet minimum government ratios.

What does our enhanced provision provide?

When accessing funded hours, we make a charge called ‘enhanced provision’, to cover everything that the funding doesn’t provide for. This includes all the extra experiences we offer within our normal service throughout the year, as well as having a cook onsite preparing fresh, nutritious food each day (three meals per day, two desserts per day and two snacks).

Some of the extra provision we provide with this charge includes: access to and updates on the Famly app, sports sessions with Coach Joe, yoga sessions with Tatty Bumpkins, seasonal events and celebrations, walks & trips, cooking with the children, growing butterflies from caterpillars, small group phonics in the pre-school, hall hire for graduation performance, hall hire for Christmas performance, visits from Santa and large scale outdoor activities. The extra provision charge also allows us to purchase additional resources and equipment that we can then provide to enable other experiences. For example: gardening equipment, malleable materials, arts and crafts, sensory toys etc.

The nursery is run and overseen by qualified teachers who are on site each day. We also employ a higher ratio of staff to children exceeding the minimum guidelines, in order to maintain a high standard of care and education that your children deserve.

Legislation advises that this enhanced provision contribution is to be voluntary, while this allows families greater flexibility, we must be honest about the impact on our nursery. As you can see, the government funding does not fully cover the true cost of delivering the high-quality early years education and care that we provide. These voluntary contributions help us to maintain our current standards, including experienced staff, engaging activities, and well-equipped learning environments. It essential in helping us continue to provide the high-quality care and education your children deserve.
